Hand Surgery and Upper Extremity Reconstruction: Contemporary Perspectives

This chapter reviews recent advances in the surgical management of traumatic, degenerative, and congenital conditions of the hand and upper extremity, with emphasis on innovations in nerve repair and regeneration, tendon surgery, and the restoration of composite tissue defects. The chapter also addresses evolving techniques in replantation surgery, the surgical management of brachial plexus injuries, and the emerging role of targeted muscle reinnervation and sensory restoration in improving functional outcomes following major limb reconstruction.
