This chapter examines recent advances in the science and practice of intrapartum care, including updated evidence on labor induction agents, partographic monitoring, and the optimal management of prolonged and obstructed labor. Special attention is given to the evolving role of continuous electronic fetal monitoring, point-of-care fetal blood sampling, and real-time artificial intelligence decision-support tools in reducing adverse perinatal outcomes. The chapter also reviews contemporary data on operative delivery, cesarean section trends, and the evidence base for trial of labor after cesarean (TOLAC).
