Advances in Dermoscopy, Reflectance Confocal Microscopy, and Non-Invasive Imaging

This chapter reviews the current state and recent advances in non-invasive and minimally invasive diagnostic imaging modalities applied to dermatology, including dermoscopy, reflectance confocal microscopy, optical coherence tomography, and multiphoton tomography. It assesses the evidence base for their clinical utility in the diagnosis of melanocytic lesions, inflammatory conditions, and hair and nail disorders, as well as their role in monitoring treatment response. The chapter also explores the integration of standardized imaging protocols into clinical workflows and their growing relevance in telemedicine and remote dermatology.
