Advances in the Management of Myeloid Malignancies: AML, MDS, and Myeloproliferative Neoplasms

This chapter critically reviews recent advances in the understanding and treatment of myeloid malignancies, encompassing acute myeloid leukemia (AML), myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), and myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs). The discussion focuses on targeted therapies, including IDH1/2 inhibitors, FLT3 inhibitors, BCL-2 inhibitors, and JAK inhibitors, as well as their rational combination with conventional chemotherapy. Emerging data on venetoclax-based regimens, hypomethylating agents, and novel agents in early-phase trials are presented alongside evolving frameworks for treatment selection based on molecular profiling.
