Breast Imaging: Advances in Mammography, Tomosynthesis, Contrast-Enhanced MRI, and AI-Assisted Screening

Breast imaging encompasses a rapidly evolving portfolio of technologies aimed at improving early detection sensitivity while reducing false-positive rates and unnecessary interventions. This chapter reviews the evidence base for digital breast tomosynthesis, contrast-enhanced spectral mammography, abbreviated and multiparametric MRI protocols, and molecular breast imaging, and evaluates the emerging role of AI in automated screening analysis, radiological workflow optimisation, and risk stratification for personalised breast cancer surveillance.
