Point-of-Care Ultrasound in Emergency Medicine: Applications and Evidence Base

This chapter offers a systematic review of point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) applications across the spectrum of emergency presentations, from cardiac arrest and haemodynamic instability to undifferentiated dyspnoea, abdominal pain, and procedural guidance. It evaluates the diagnostic accuracy, clinical impact, and evolving training standards associated with POCUS, with particular attention to integration into standardised emergency assessment protocols and its role in resource-limited settings.
